Echoes – A Bodily Sound Walk
Echoes is a documentary walk through the city of Kokkola. Participants walk alone along a pre-planned route, following instructions on a tape, stopping along the way to listen to recordings of memories shared by locals from different locations. The townspeople recall demolished buildings where they once lived or worked, as well as moments and periods that left lasting impressions in specific places.
The work invites participants to experience the layers of time in a living, changing environment. It grounds the walker in their own physicality as a living part of the city and reminds them of humanity’s sensitivity, as well as the shared experiences across different life stages and situations.
